Just a reminder:  When we reach the end of the Biggest Loser Contest the guy and gal who lost the largest percentage of body weight will be the winners. This is not necessarily the most pounds lost.

The two week winners that are happening throughout the contest are winners by the most pounds lost.

The following is from the contest rules and it has the formula for figuring your percentage of body weight lost. Or you can call me, it is on my spreadsheet as well 🙂

There will be a male AND female winner of the contest. The winners of the Biggest Loser contest will be the male and female who loses the largest percentage of body weight. (Example:  start at 200 pounds and lose 10 pounds and you have lost 5%)…[(Start weight -‐ Finish Weight) X 100 / Start weight = percentage lost.]

GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU! SEVEN MORE WEEKS! WE CAN DO THIS!

Eating Disorders Hitting Women Over 50, Study Finds

26 06 2012

I found an interesting study that attests to the issue of the difficulty women have of maintaining an ideal weight. Men, I am sure, have their unique issues. This article for women is located at: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/news/fullstory_126506.html. The story breaks some sterotypes society has regarding what age group is thought of to have difficulties in controlling their weight.

WEEK 6 WEIGH IN IS WEDNESDAY JUNE 27

25 06 2012

Happy Monday!

Weigh in for Week 6 will be this Wednesday, June 27, from 6:30 am to 11 am. Please notice the earlier ending time. If you cannot make it over during that time, please give me a call and we can make other arrangements.

***SPECIAL NEWS REGARDING WEEK 7 WEIGH IN:***

We are going to mix up the weigh in just a bit.  Weigh In for week 7 (during 4th of July week) has been cancelled. So this means you have two weeks to lose weight!

Weigh in for both week 7 & 8 will be Wednesday, July 11, from 6:30 am to 11 am. This will be Board day so the earlier we can get done, the better. 🙂

IF you gain when you weigh in on July 11, you will have to pay $2 per pound since you have two weeks to make sure you don’t gain. The same goes if you stay the same weight– it will be $2 instead of $1. (Essentially you will be paying the same as if you weighed in on week 7 and week 8.)

Enjoy the 4th of July BBQs!  Just remember:  make good choices and eat smaller portions 🙂

Ideas

20 06 2012

Well, we are starting on the 6th week of our attempt at being healthy and lose weight. WOW! Almost halfway there!

Several of you have asked what are we going to do after this to maintain or to keep losing because 12 weeks is just not enough time.

If you have ideas for another biggest loser contest after this one is over, send them to me via this blog. All ideas are welcome and will be looked at. No promises on incorporating each idea though.

Thanks for your input!

Marilyn

WEEK 5 RESULTS

20 06 2012

This week Donna was the biggest loser at 4.7 pounds.

Roger was the biggest loser guy at 3.4 pounds.

CONGRATS DONNA AND ROGER!

Total pounds lost this week by the gals:  8.4.  Total pounds lost by the guys:  9.2.

Total pounds lost since the beginning:  176.1.   Total percentage lost overall:  2.87%.

Keep up the hard work! Remember this is all about being healthier for life, not just a few weeks. Remember to make changes that will be easy to incorporate in your life after the contest to maintain the weight and not gain it back and to keep losing if that is what you would still like to do.
